I’ve set up a personal server at home, behind a dynamic DNS, using a few watts of power when idle, serving my website, code repositories, media and other files. In particular, I wanted it to:
- serve the music collection (mp3s, flacs) so that I can listen at home and on the go
- serve my photos, so that I can share them with friends and family
- store the backups of the data from my laptop
- serve my private git repos
- serve this blog
In this series of posts I will describe why I set one up, and why you might want to do the same; what hardware and software I run; how it is set up.
- Why?
